    Job Role

    Due to planned rapid growth and new products coming onto the market, foster+freeman is seeking an in-house Technical Author to develop and support user manuals, service, quick start and training guides for our range of industry-leading forensic science instruments.

    The Technical Author will be required to:

    • Write and improve content on how to install, use and maintain foster+freeman products and technologies.
    • Produce digital and hardcopy technical content including instruction manuals, parts and technical documentation and maintenance instructions for our customers, end-users and distributors.
    • Maintain all existing technical content.
    • Manage the translation (when required) of new and existing technical content.
    • Liaise with R&D, Production and Sales teams.
    • Support Marketing, Production, and Service Teams when required.
    • Use existing authoring systems and exploring new tools.

    Job Requirements

    As a graduate role, learning on the job is expected and training will be provided.
    The ideal candidate will have:

    • The ability to write in a clear, concise, and crisp manner.
    • A degree-level qualification in a STEM subject.
    • Some understanding of laboratory-based scientific instrumentation or software testing.
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, and other MS Office packages.

    As a number of foster+freeman products could be considered as being highly technical, applicants with a background or interest in science and forensics will be at an advantage.
